04.08.2026

After arriving in Baku azerbaijan around 10 days ago, i met up with the local HAMs in the National club station 4K4AZE which is located in Ruslans (4k5RA) Summerhouse. Its in the outskirts of Baku and very nice there.

I met Elgun 4K6EH again, which brought his QO-100 equipment and we planned on Listening to the narrowband transponder.

We talked for a bit, and then ordered food and drank tea together.

The Clubstation is very cozy and spacious.

after eating, Elgun Assebmled his QO-100 Equipment, which consits of a Dish, a Pluto and a Bias Power brick which he soldered himself.

after a bit of adjusting we actually managed to recieve the downlink of QO-100, which was the first time for me. it was very interesting lisetning to it.

After listening a bit, we went to the HF Shack, which has a IC7300 and another few old radios. sadly, you will be bothered by loads of QRM when you are in Baku, which is mostly due to the TV tower in the north west.

I got very lucky and actually got alloance to make a few FT8 QSOs under own callsign.

i made a total of 28 QSOs, all on FT8 and 10 meters.

in the end, we drank some more tea and talked. we used Google translate and a few words that i knew in russian/azerbaijani. Elgun 4K6EH is learning english very quickly and communications with the others is also very well possible.

Thank you to the Team for this amazing day! I cant wait to meet them again.
